CEO and Founder Sheila Downey launched a small bookkeeping business in 2006. With over 19 years of bookkeeping and business experience, we have expanded, brought in new team members and become Insyte Business Solutions Ltd. The business has grown by word-of-mouth referrals received from clients and accountants.

Our mission is to help you discover how to leverage your potential, capture opportunities, and plan for your future. We aim to empower organizations to focus their passion back into their business and create an impact where it matters most.

Our vision is to bring new and innovative solutions to organizations nationwide while cultivating a culture of community, sustainability and integrity. Our commitment is to the big picture, beyond just the books.

Team Standards

Our bookkeepers are required to fulfill four standards: education, experience, testing, and training.

  • Minimum 5 years experience
  • RCMP background check
  • Certified Professional Bookkeeper with the Certified Professional Bookkeepers of Canada
  • QuickBooks Certified Pro Advisor and Xero Certified Advisor
  • Successfully completed the Pure Bookkeeping Skills Assessment

We had been let down by bookkeepers who claimed they were proficient in Accounting Software but we found the opposite was true when they started doing the work for us. So we now use the Pure Bookkeeping Skills Assessment to test the applicant’s proficiency in the respective software and general bookkeeping skills. This must be completed successfully before they have an interview. That has helped enormously to weed out inexperienced candidates.

Once selected, they complete the Pure Bookkeeping Training Program – an intensive theoretical and practical training in all aspects of the Pure Bookkeeping System before starting as one of our bookkeepers.

We operate online using cloud technology, and so can support almost any business or Not-for-Profit within Canada.
Our head office is located in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory.

Sheila Downey

CEO and Founder Sheila Downey has been dedicated to her career in bookkeeping and financial management for the past 19 years.
Sheila has been a Certified Professional Bookkeeper (CPB) since 2010 and is accredited/licensed by Pure Bookkeeping, in addition to her many software certifications. She is a Yukon College alumni. Most importantly, Sheila always infuses her professional services with a giving spirit and a helping heart.

Her business has allowed her the freedom to work with clients of her choosing. Although she has extensive experience providing services to a wide cross-section of businesses and organizations, her heart is drawn to the non-profit sector.

Sheila’s greatest satisfaction comes from utilizing her extensive financial sector experience to help struggling organizations survive and thrive. As a member of the federally registered Certified Professional Bookkeepers of Canada, whose mandate is to develop excellence and trust – her designation assures you of her commitment to her clients.

Sara LeCheminant

Sara LeCheminant

Junior Bookkeeper Sara LeCheminant began working for Insyte Business Solutions in August of 2019.
Sara is an Apprentice with CPB Canada, on the pathway to become a Certified Professional Bookkeeper.

Sara handles our client’s books with Sheila’s guidance, as well as aids in software implementation. Sara has been with the company for one eventful year. Prior to that, she studied various business administration courses at the Yukon College. During her year with us, she has learned over 7 new software’s as well as taken a crack at marketing and taken on various administrative tasks.

Sara believes in finding the opportunity within every difficulty. She thrives on challenges and is driven to find creative solutions to the issues organizations are facing today.
